Me too! A lot of us do and that isn't a bad thing...
It is just part of being a Type A personality.
The bad thing is that it can lead to a stress filled life.
I know that being so driven and focused in my life has gotten me where am I today. I'm grateful for that. Sometimes though, the pressure is unbelievable. Sometimes it is okay to just be okay. Oh, by the way, you know that woman on Facebook, who you think has it all together?...Guess what...she doesn't! Not a single person on Earth is perfect or "has it all together."
We do not have to strive to be perfect but we should strive for excellence.
Harriet Braiker says,
"Striving for excellence motivates you; striving for perfection is demoralizing."
We are all imperfect and to try to put up a facade of perfection leads to excess stress and frustration in our lives.
We have a hope though. That hope is faith in Jesus Christ. According to Hebrews 10:14 if we know Jesus we are already perfected. We will realize that perfection when we pass to the other side.
Today, I'm going to try to lay aside those areas in my life where I've been striving for perfection, i.e., being the perfect mother, having a perfect house (will never happen with 2 toddlers and a preschooler), being a perfect wife, etc. I'm going to lay these at the feet of Jesus and ask him to help me just strive for excellence. We will never hit the moving target of perfection so let's just do our best with where we are in our lives and shed the stress.

Today's cleaning assignment is to clean and organize the shelves and electronics in the living room and to dust/shine the wood furniture.
