31 Days to Clean by Sarah Mae ~ Day 10

Feeling overwhelmed with everything you have to do to today and everything going on? Me too, a little bit. I'm chipping away at everything, but the opening paragraph in today's reading was so true for me, it was like Sarah Mae was here and describing my house! She writes, "The house is a mess. Dishes all over the counter tops, toys everywhere, papers askew, laundry piled up and overall 'I'm-so-behind-on-life' disarray. It's depressing just looking at it all. 'Didn't I just get this mess cleaned up?'"
That is certainly true here!

She also offers some helpful tips for when we are feeling overwhelmed.
  1.  Only work on one room at a time - So much better than cleaning a little bit here and there. That way you can really see/feel your accomplishments.
  2. Be generous to your trash can - I love this one, because we all know that less clutter = less stress!
  3. Get rid of/put up half the toys - Store/rotate them out or donate them.
  4. Set a timer for 15 minutes and work hard and fast! - I love to crank up the tunes while I do this.
  5. Focus on the big picture - How do you want your house to be? Peaceful and calm? Focus on it and write it down, post it in  place you will see it often.
  6. GET OFF THE COMPUTER! - This is the one that helps me the most. If I dawdle on here all day, I get depressed and off kilter and have a hard time getting motivated to get things done.
  7. Stay focused - Keep on, keepin' on. It will get better and when you've got it cleaned you can revel in that feeling!
  8. Find something new for your home that delights your heart and brings you a smile.
Ask God to help you realize the dream/goal you have for your home and get on it!

Today's cleaning assignment is wash the windows and window treatments in the living room. Don't forget to wash the inside of the windows as well!
