Awesome Shepherd's Pie (And It's Healthy!)

Awesome Shepherd's Pie - REAL Comfort Food




This is comfort food at its finest and healthiest since it is made with real food it was also super easy. I made this with ingredients I had on hand but it could be even healthier if you had access to all organic veggies.

Awesome Shepherd's Pie - Yield: 8 Servings

Ingredients:       1 medium sweet onion, chopped
                            3 t. organic minced garlic
                            1 lb. ground beef (preferably grass fed)
                            Salt and Pepper to taste.
                            1 can (14.5 oz.) diced tomatoes, drained
                            1 can (14.5 oz.) green beans
                            Approximately, 10 servings of mashed potatoes.
                                 (I used instant potatoes since it was all I had and prepared them
                                  with real butter and whole milk.)
                            1 egg, beaten
                            Garnish with finely shredded mild cheddar cheese and sour cream

What to do:       Preheat oven to 350°F.
                           In a large pan, brown the beef, onion, garlic
                           Add in salt and pepper to taste.
                           Drain the meat mixture and place in a 3 qt. casserole dish.
                           Pour the tomatoes over the meat mixture and put the green beans on top of that.
                           Spread the mashed potatoes over the top of the green beans and brush with egg.
                           Bake 30 minutes and then broil for 1-2 minutes (watch it closely)
                                  until browning on the top to your liking.
 
                          Garnish, Serve, Enjoy!


Now, before anyone starts to freak out about the fats, the myth that saturated fats are bad for you has been debunked. So relax and like I said, Enjoy!
