It is interesting to me that today's reading is titled "Confronting Laziness." I certainly am feeling lazy today. Insomnia struck again last night and Jack climbed into our bed a few times last night and he kept kicking me (I think he was enjoying it.) At any rate, not a lot of sleep, but the weird thing about insomnia is the wide awake feeling. I got up at 5:45 am for my run, but could have just as easily gotten up at 2:30 or 3 a.m. Suffice to say, NOW I'm sleepy and don't want to do much. I know that fatigue and laziness are two VERY different things, but right now, all I want to do is sit down, drink some more coffee and surf the net.
However, when we do find ourselves feeling lazy and there is much to do, Sarah Mae exhorts us to confess the sin of laziness, repent and pick ourselves up and try again by "seeking to have a spirit of diligence and reliance on the strength of Jesus."
Colossians 3:23 says "Whatever you do, do it wholeheartedly as though you were working for your real master and not merely for humans." (God's Word Translation)
Sarah also included a quote that really stuck out to me; "When someone asks where you work, don't answer, "I don't work; I stay at home." Instead, answer, "I work at home." When you manage your home, plan the meals, handle the finances, juggle the calendar, and make sure that family members enter the world relatively groomed and sanitized, you work a lot. Think of yourself as the COO of the home." -Tsh Oxenreider, SimpleMom.net
If we find ourselves procrastinating, repent and ask God for a spirit of diligence.
How do you combat laziness?
Cleaning assignment for today is clean, sweep, vacuum, mop the floor in the kitchen and add some fresh flowers to brighten up the room.
What is your favorite tool for cleaning wood floors? I love the a basic mop and pine sol in a bucket of really hot water.
